The SMWS G2.2 (30 ml grain elevator operator helper bottle)

[Here is another in a long line of current offerings from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society.  We didn't get to the last batch in time and were lost.  Alas.  But we're back now, and still rockin' the Lo-Mob effex on the pix.  Check out the beginning of this other post for more on these reviews.  If you want to find out more about the SMWS or their bottlings, visit www.smws.com]

Tasting notes:
Nosing this dram is like a renegade ENT doctor applying her method of bundling sawdust from milled teak with cacao nib shavings into women's silk stockings, and gently inserting them into the nostrils of those afflicted by hayfever. Coconut lurking in the background and an ardent boyscout trying to build a fire using dried lemon peel zest. Opening up…and on the mouth, melting chocolate swiss brass watches, in a (mythical) homage to Salvador Dali by Jeff Koons. Finishing long and complex, like a tortoise making its way to the tape, telling Icelandic sagas to a rapt audience of hares.
With water, the wood on the nose dissolves like the wicked witch of the west (minus the unpleasant shrieks, of course). Instead, the shogun's palace on a ritual feast day celebrating Japanese swordsmanship. Late fall in the forest before the first snow, but long after the last rain. On the mouth, maple syrup mixed with panther musk, cottage cheese, and rainbows. The finish is, improbably, longer and more piquant like the best mole poblano sauce used in New Mexican cuisine on one bite of chicken tamale (that had wheat flour mixed with corn).

Rating:
--On the scale of John Grisham novels turned into movies--
The SMWS G2.2 is The Grainmaker [Stephen: Bill!  That's The Rainmaker!]--Made into a movie by Francis Ford Coppola with the star-power of Matt Damon, Danny DeVito, Danny Glover, Claire Danes, Jon Voight, Roy Scheider, and Mickey Rourke. Two thumbs up; Sasquatch and Herbert say, "Check it out!"
