Nice review, but don't you mix up Glenfiddich with Glenlivet in this sentence?:

"... signature, perhaps even the specific variant of it found in the G-Fidd 15 year-old French Oak."

The Glenfiddich 15 YO is a Solera Reserve, where the Glenlivet 15 YO is named French Oak Reserve

Nice review! This is an unusual whiskey. This is a shy little monster. At first it shrinks back and hides. Then it lashes out with a healthy burn to your tongue. But once you spend a little time and coax out its personality you have a very nice and somewhat unusual guest on your hands.

We would recommend. We've talked with The guy in charge of ForScotchLovers, and he assures us that the quality of whiskies in the Whisky Explorers Club will take a step up in this next flight (in September). He wasn't exactly pleased with what he was able to offer last year (last year, he had an unfortunate incident in which a number of key minis were intercepted on the way over from Scotland). He says that Whisky lovers will be definitely be pleased with most of what they get in next year's WEC, but that certainly some will be dissatisfied with a few of them, as they will include a few good, but widely available whiskies like Bushmills for those memos who are looking to be exposed to whiskies they just hadn't gone so far as to buy at their corner store yet (perhaps because it's Irish whiskey and not Scotch). We even went so far put the guy from ForScotchLovers in touch with our mini guy at Loch Fyne Whiskies to help facilitate great minis in this next edition of the WEC. That may be more info than you wanted, but e hope that helps!

i'm considering buying this as a father's day gift, but i must confess, i can't figure out from your blog post if you would actually recommend this subscription or not. i can't say i'm super excited about forking over dough for bushmill's, which i could get at the corner store here in san francisco. would you recommend? or not recommend?

Since I often don't feel very interactive either, I thought I should chime in and thank you kids for expressing perfectly my deep, seething envy for also not being chosen for this project.

As for the naming the stuff, "The Malt Impostor Blended Dram:...now they're making stuff up on the front end"....brilliant.
